Basic Chemistry Style in FC 27

Small balanced boosts to every attribute group. The safe default when no specialist stat stands out — and a deliberate tradeoff the rest of the time.

What Basic boosts

Basic boosts every attribute group a little: Pace, Shooting, Passing, Dribbling, Defending, and Physical. It is the only outfield style that touches everything, which makes it the safe default when no single stat stands out as the thing to fix. Compare it with the full list in our FC 27 chemistry styles guide before you commit. (Goalkeepers have their own version: Basic (GK).)

How the boost scales with chemistry

The boost is not fixed — it scales with that player's own chemistry points:

Player chemistryBasic boost
0 chemistryNo boost at all
1 chemistrySmall boost
2 chemistryMedium boost
3 chemistryMaximum boost (small bumps across every group)

Even at maximum, Basic's bumps stay small — that is the point of the style. Use our FC 27 chemistry calculator to get the player to 3 chemistry first, then apply the style.

Best positions for Basic

Rule of thumb: Basic is the "I don't know yet" style. If you know the player's job, you almost certainly know a better style.

When NOT to pick Basic

Here is the honest tradeoff, because it is the whole story with Basic: a specialist style gives about +3 to the groups that matter, while Basic gives only small bumps everywhere. Basic never beats a specialist at what the specialist does.

Basic wins only when you genuinely cannot name a priority group — the balanced card, the utility sub, the early-game player whose role you haven't figured out yet. If you catch yourself thinking "well, a bit of everything can't hurt", that is Basic doing its job. If you catch yourself thinking "he really needs pace", that is your cue to leave Basic behind.

Example: Basic on a well-rounded CM

Say your central midfielder is decent at everything and weak at nothing, and he sits on 3 chemistry. Applying Basic gives him small bumps across every group — slightly better passing, slightly better tackling, slightly better stamina. Same card on 1 chemistry? Barely any boost — fix the chemistry first. Now contrast: if that same CM's passing were clearly his standout tool, a passing specialist would add ~+3 to Passing instead of a small bump. That's the tradeoff, every time.

Basic FAQ

Is Basic ever better than a specialist style in FC 27?

Only when you genuinely have no priority attribute group. Basic gives small bumps everywhere; a specialist gives about +3 where it counts. The moment one group clearly matters, the specialist wins.

Should I use Basic on a substitute or rotation player in FC 27?

Yes — that is Basic's natural home. Squad and sub players fill different roles game to game, so a small all-round boost is more useful than a specialist boost for a job they might not play.

Basic or Hunter for a slow striker in FC 27?

Hunter. A slow striker has an obvious problem — pace — and Hunter's ~+3 to Pace fixes it far more than Basic's small bumps to everything. Basic is for cards with no clear weakness.
