Powerhouse Chemistry Style in FC 27

The holding mid's passing upgrade — range without losing defensive bite.

What Powerhouse boosts

Powerhouse boosts two attribute groups: Passing (PAS) and Defending (DEF). It is the thinking holder's style — sharpen positioning and interceptions while turning safe sideways passes into line-breaking distribution. Compare it with the full list in our FC 27 chemistry styles guide before you commit.

How the boost scales with chemistry

The boost is not fixed — it scales with that player's own chemistry points:

Player chemistryPowerhouse boost
0 chemistryNo boost at all
1 chemistrySmall boost
2 chemistryMedium boost
3 chemistryMaximum boost (about +3 to Passing and Defending)

A Powerhouse on a 1-chemistry holder is coins wasted. Use our FC 27 chemistry calculator to get the player to 3 chemistry first, then apply the style.

Best positions for Powerhouse

Rule of thumb: Powerhouse is for holders who are already physical enough. If your CDM gets outmuscled weekly, Backbone adds the physical Powerhouse skips.

When NOT to pick Powerhouse

Powerhouse's narrow two-stat focus is its strength — and its trap. Pick it only when defending and passing are genuinely the two gaps:

Example: Powerhouse on a holding mid

Your holding mid reads the game well but his long balls float harmlessly. On 3 chemistry, Powerhouse gives him the maximum Passing + Defending boost (about +3 to each group) — interceptions stay sharp and his diagonals start finding wingers. On 1 chemistry, neither group improves enough to matter — fix the chemistry first.

Powerhouse FAQ

Powerhouse or Backbone on a holding midfielder in FC 27?

If his physical stats are already fine, Powerhouse's two-stat focus (Passing + Defending) is enough and wastes nothing. If he gets bullied in duels, Backbone adds the Physical group Powerhouse lacks.

Does Powerhouse boost physicality in FC 27?

No — Passing and Defending only. A CDM who loses every shoulder challenge needs Architect or Backbone, not Powerhouse — and remember chemistry matters more than the style anyway.

Is Powerhouse any good on an attacking midfielder in FC 27?

Rarely. Attacking mids live on shooting and dribbling, which Powerhouse doesn't touch. Maestro (Shooting + Passing + Dribbling) is the natural fit there.
