The definition of chemistry in FC 27

Chemistry in FC 27 gives each starter 0–3 points based on shared club, nation and league links, for a squad maximum of 33.

Think of it as "how much of the card shows up on the pitch". Each starter earns points from teammates who share their club, league and nation. Those points decide how much of the player's attribute potential you actually get in a match — and how much of a chemistry style's boost applies.

Chemistry never makes a good card bad. It only scales the boost. A great card on 1 chemistry still plays like a great card, just without the extra boost on top.

Club, nation and league thresholds in FC 27

Count how many teammates share the player's club, nation and league — including the player themselves, across all 11 starters. Hit a threshold and the player banks the points:

Shared with+1 point+2 points+3 points
Club2 players4 players7 players
Nation2 players5 players8 players
League3 players5 players8 players

Example: a player with 2 same-club teammates (+1 club) and 5 same-league teammates (+2 league) reaches 3 chemistry. Points from the three categories add up, then are capped at 3 per player.

Doing the counting by hand is slow — the free FC 27 chemistry calculator does it for all 11 starters at once and tells you exactly which link each weak player is missing.

Special cards: ICON, Hero and Hall of FUT chemistry

ICONs, Heroes and the new Hall of FUT cards always have 3 chemistry in their preferred position — no links needed.

They also hand out links to everyone else. In FC 27 an ICON gives +1 to every league in your squad plus a +1 nation link (down from +2 in FC 26). Heroes and Hall of FUT cards give +1 to their own league plus a +1 nation link (Hero league link also down from +2). None of them have club links — ICONs have no club.

What raises chemistry in FC 27

  • Shared links. The main lever: stack club, nation and league counts toward the thresholds above.
  • Manager bonus. A manager gives +1 chemistry to every starter sharing their league or nation (still capped at 3 per player). See manager chemistry explained.
  • Loyalty. Players earned from packs or objectives get a +1 loyalty bonus, shown as a badge on the card. See loyalty chemistry explained.
  • Preferred position. A player out of position gets 0 chemistry and doesn't help teammates either. See position changes explained.

Once the chemistry is fixed, the next question is which boost to put on each player — answer 3 questions in the 3-step Chem Style Finder and get a recommendation per position.

FC 27 chemistry definition FAQ

What is chemistry in FC 27?

Chemistry in FC 27 gives each starter 0–3 points based on shared club, nation and league links with teammates, for a squad maximum of 33. Those points decide how much of a player's attribute potential — and how much of a chemistry style's boost — actually shows up in a match.

How is chemistry calculated in FC 27?

Count how many teammates share the player's club, nation and league (including the player themselves). Club links give +1/+2/+3 points at 2/4/7 players, nation at 2/5/8, league at 3/5/8. The three categories add up, capped at 3 points per player.

What is the maximum chemistry in FC 27?

33 — 3 chemistry points for each of the 11 starters. You don't need 33 to win games; most competitive squads sit between 25 and 33.

Do ICONs get full chemistry in FC 27?

Yes. ICONs, Heroes and Hall of FUT cards always have 3 chemistry in their preferred position. ICONs also give +1 to every league in your squad plus a +1 nation link; Heroes and Hall of FUT give +1 to their own league plus a +1 nation link.

What kills chemistry in FC 27?

Playing a player out of position gives them 0 chemistry and they don't help teammates either. Low shared club, nation or league counts are the other common cause — check each weak link with a chemistry calculator.
