What Artist boosts
Artist boosts two attribute groups: Passing (PAS) and Dribbling (DRI). It is the narrowest of the playmaker styles — no shooting, no pace, no physical — just the two groups a pure creator lives on. Compare it with the full list in our FC 27 chemistry styles guide before you commit.
How the boost scales with chemistry
The boost is not fixed — it scales with that player's own chemistry points:
| Player chemistry | Artist boost |
| 0 chemistry | No boost at all |
| 1 chemistry | Small boost |
| 2 chemistry | Medium boost |
| 3 chemistry | Maximum boost (about +3 to Passing and Dribbling) |
An Artist on a 1-chemistry playmaker is coins wasted. Use our FC 27 chemistry calculator to get the player to 3 chemistry first, then apply the style.
Best positions for Artist
- Attacking mid (CAM): the classic number 10 — Artist sharpens exactly the two groups he uses to unlock defences, with nothing wasted on shooting he'll rarely attempt.
- Deep-lying playmaker (CM): the CM who picks passes from deep and needs close control to escape the press — passing range plus the touch to wriggle free.
Rule of thumb: Artist is for players who create but don't score. If your number 10 also finishes chances, Maestro adds the shooting Artist skips.
When NOT to pick Artist
Artist is a specialist's style — two groups, zero coverage elsewhere. Pick it only when the player genuinely needs nothing else:
- vs Maestro — pick Maestro when the midfielder is also a goal threat. If your CAM arrives in the box and shoots, Artist leaves his finishing untouched. Maestro keeps the passing and dribbling and adds the shooting he actually uses.
- vs Architect — pick Architect when physicality and duels matter more than dribbling. A playmaker who gets bullied off the ball gains nothing from a silkier first touch. Architect's physical boost keeps him in the game; Artist's dribbling finesse does not.
Example: Artist on a number 10
Picture a classic number 10: velvet first touch, defence-splitting passes, but he never scores. On 3 chemistry, Artist gives him the maximum Passing + Dribbling boost (about +3 to each group) — tighter turns in the pocket, sharper through balls. On 1 chemistry you'd barely notice the difference — chemistry first, style second.
Artist FAQ
Artist or Maestro on a CAM in FC 27?
If your CAM's job is purely to create — slide-rule passes and tight turns in the pocket — Artist is the cleaner pick. If he also arrives in the box and shoots, Maestro adds the shooting boost Artist skips.
Does Artist fix a slow playmaker in FC 27?
No. Artist boosts Passing and Dribbling — it will not add a yard of pace. A slow playmaker gets his legs from a pace style like Catalyst, not from dribbling finesse — and remember chemistry matters more than the style anyway.
Is Artist worth it on a winger in FC 27?
Only on an inverted, playmaking winger who cuts inside to create. A touchline winger who lives on beating his man for pace gets far more from a pace style like Hunter.
